"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being ROOTED and grounded in LOVE, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the LOVE of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

Special Edition...Peruvian Style

Well...we have been in the house for most of the weekend. This has been tough at times, but we are trying to stay safe and protect ourselves from the city's festivities that are underway this month- the famous CARNIVAL (with the peak being this weekend). We were able to make it to a wonderful church service this morning and we had an opportunity to hear some beautiful music (below).

Again, this month in Cajamarca, Peru, everyone is celebrating the Carnival. This weekend we were advised to stay in our home due to the "paint filled" balloons that everyone throws at each other (not just water:) Our luggage arrived yesterday and the driver's van got attacked by a paint balloon (see below).

View sent from our friend's apartment- overlooking the "paint" being thrown at each other
...cars and all!

Poor Driver!

History of Carnival
Cajamarca is a lovely and tranquil place... except during Carnival! The city is famous for its annual celebrations, which involve the whole city and surrounding area, and if it fits in with your schedule then we know you'd enjoy it. The celebrations last for a whole month but you may decide to miss the eight days in the middle - in some ways they're the most lively but you also risk getting soaked with water in the traditional Cajamarca Carnival greeting!

Here is a youtube clip on the Carnival posted a few years ago- just so you can get an idea of how many people are here:

We were also told that as of tomorrow ALL POWER will be turned off all over Cajamarca for the whole day due to the festivities. We are not looking forward to this...but thankfully we had an opportunity to prepare things around the house and hopefully we can salvage most of the food in the refrigerator. (Blessing:)

So this weekend, as we "bunkered down" in the house, we have watched "Courageous" a million times and had fun hanging out as a family. Tomorrow is Sean's 35th Birthday...so the kids wanted to celebrate with some Family Dance time! We heard it is snowing in our home time in North Carolina...we hope you all enjoy (...maybe no school)!

(Seriously, who does this Roger Rabbit or some version of it anymore? The kids just laughed and laughed at us! We have been in the house WAY too long!)

Love to you all-

The Heath's
