In April, Rick Dyson, Statesville, North Carolina, led a team of eleven to Cajamarca, Peru. This year represents the 26th year of outstanding serving for two of the team members, Rick Dyson and Bill Gragg. Thank you both for your hearts and for faithfully serving the Lord along side Villa Milagro Ministries.
The team arrived safely after traveling for many hours to Cajamarca, ready to serve and love on many in the community. Each day, the men woke up early and headed to the wood shop, working hard to complete the new bakery located on the Villa Milagro farm and on many other projects. The construction team helped build new chairs for the children at the special needs school. The ladies hosted a Ladies Bible Study and shared a very special time and fellowship with many of their friends that they have built over many years. The North Carolina team also helped lead a three day vacation bible school at one of the nearby Monte Sion annexes. Over 40 children arrived during the three day event that was filled with games, songs, crafts, and the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST.
After an exciting weekend of visiting Monte Sion Iglesia and spending an afternoon with the children in the Aldea Orphanage, the team started their second week off early serving in the area of Santa Barbara. They helped host a one day vacation bible school, working along side the church members of this Monte Sion annex in Santa Barbara. The team members received an amazing blessing as they had an opportunity to love on and minister to the children and youth in this small area of Cajamarca. Also, during the week, the team relaxed and enjoyed a special evening with friends, Monte Sion church members, and the Villa Milagro staff celebrating Larry and Joy Johnson’s, founders of Villa Milagro Ministries, 61st wedding anniversary.
During their two weeks of service, the volunteers enjoyed time in the local markets, shopping for many families in need. After sorting through many donations, clothes, and shoes, the team helped deliver the food and supplies to these families. The Lord opened many doors to minister and share the love of Christ. Lives were changed and hearts were broken as the team witnessed first hand many suffering from poverty and in need of a Savior.
Words cannot fully express how much Villa Milagro appreciates and loves this team’s faithfulness, many years of service, and continuous love that they have given to the people of Peru. May God bless each one of you as you return to your hometowns to continue to serve the Lord. We look forward to your return and seeing you all again next year.
"For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints,
as you still do."
~Hebrews 6:10
